<title>Boogie Knits Boogie Knits

It’s been all work lately.

But at least it means I have quite a bit for the update today.
baskets-batts
Lots of batts were done. 14 new batt colors to be exact. But that’s not all. See this wall:
baskets_of_stock
It looks fairly full but there are some bare spots that will be filled with those baskets. Not to mention there is a new fiber in the stable and a new colorway of the month.

It all will be in the shop this afternoon. I’m hoping to have time later this week and this weekend to work on some things for me.

Those little Magnetic letters that all the kids love for the refrigerator make great faux food when the kids are making home made soup. You shouldn’t eat them for real and you probably don’t want to even lick them if your kids are like mine…. If your kids are like mine then they might sneak a piece of their fake food into the real oven….Check the oven before you cook. These things stink when they’re cooked.

Because of that bit of lesson I got, I now know that my oven is grey. Funny, I bought it new and I should know what color it was inside but I suppose I never paid much mind to it. I thought that it was black. Imagine my surprise. I had to burn off all the plastic that was cooked into the oven yesterday and I’m still left with an offending spot to remind me of that event.

I’ve learned that the Louet S45 which is a cool wheel. I also learned that you need to be careful when you use the little bobbin hold thing behind the big front wheel:

Because I learned that if you leave the end all loose and wild that the wheel may catch it up and by the time the treadling is hard, it’s got about half an ounce of yarn. Which I then learned that I’m not patient enough to NOT use the scissors

The letter Q is brought to you today by the word QUIET!

Quiet is something we don’t see around here very much. Husbeast would remind me that it might be partially my fault. If the girls and dog aren’t creating noise pollution, I make sure it still happens. And if no one but me is around (which is often rare) I talk to myself. Though I like the idea of quiet.

I decided to convey that in my love of storm clouds. As in, “the quiet before the storm.”
We’ve had a lot of storms lately so I was able to take 2 new photos.

P is for plants and plantings.
In my garden we grow all kinds of unruly things with leaves (mostly weeds). But there are spindles too…..

bossie_feather_leopard
Bosworth Featherweight

Fiber: “Hidden” MerinoCash
Plant: Something I picked up that I can’t remember. Which is funny, I remember I got it because I liked the name of it.

bossie_sumac_midi
Bosworth Midi
Sumac
20 grams
Fiber: Wool blend in “Sumac”
Plant: Begonias

There isn’t a project on this one right now. I’m trying to decide if I want to spin for my Luminaria on this spindle or not. Though, it’s not like I need to start another project. But then starting another project isn’t about need it’s more about want.

And last but not least

This was a fun day. I mean, I was a little grumpy getting up at 430. It’s only about an hour before I usually get up. Still, once I hit the farm and pet the kitty that owned the place, I was better and awake.

I got all set up and the day got under way. It was sunny and gorgeous. The vendors were parked between the fields with animals and the field of spinners (not to get the two confused, on group smell better than the other). There was a huge spinners circle and just happy fibery people all over. How can a day be bad with all that? I got to see friends that I hadn’t seen in a while either, so that always makes me giddy.

One of the best things was being in between The Bosworths and Heather. I might have some new stuff too…

Then about 230-3 we started to hear rumblings and by 315 we were all worried so we (the vendors) decided to pack it in. I brought the truck over to the booth, put the wheels in and by that time everyone that was hanging out for the day was making an exodus and the wind had picked up fiercely. Friends Adrian, Caro and Jess walked by to put their wheels away and said they’d be right back to help. I think other people said they’d be back to help to but…..

I put another box in the truck, turned back to the booth and there was Cheryl and flurry of people in there packing. All the faces were blurry because I figured if people that didn’t own the stuff were worried and that speedy, then maybe I wasn’t worried or moving fast enough so I picked up the pace. I pointed to the back of the truck, packed the box of spindles turned around again and my booth was empty. By the time Adrian, Jess and Caro had returned. all that was left was to fold up the tent. stopped by too and we all put the tent away. Just before the rain started.

Seriously it was that fast. Record time guys. Thank you all for your help!

Over all it was really a good way to spend a Saturday. I wish I had had time to say goodbye and thank you all properly but I’ll see you all in Rhinebeck right?

If you want photos, Cheryl took a million. Check out her blog or maybe they’ll show up on the Fiber Revival site.
